What Is Club Volleyball & Who Plays It?

Club volleyball is the best way for young athletes to refine their skills in the sport. It is a program packed with practice and highly competitive game experience that yields true  athletic growth. Girls and families make the commitment to play club volleyball for many different reasons. The two most prominent reasons are first, to improve their skills to the point that they are able to make their High School volleyball team, and second, to turn their volleyball skill into a volleyball scholarship at the college level. Club volleyball is the number one venue that college coaches at all levels, from division one coaches to small private school coaches, use to scout and recruit. The club volleyball season takes place after the college season is over, thus allowing college coaches to actively follow players at tournaments.

All tournaments and events are hosted by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) of which we are an active member.  SCVA is a non-profit organization affiliated with USA Volleyball- the national governing body for amateur volleyball.

The season officially begins in early December with practices. We hold 2 practices each week for 2 hours each night. Practice times are generally between 5:00 - 9:00 pm. (times and days will be determined by coaches once teams are formed) Practices continue throughout the entire season.

Tournament play begins in January and continues through June. Generally, tournament games are played on Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 7:00 am - 2:00 pm. Tournaments are played at various sites, mostly at colleges and sports centers. There are usually 2 tournaments each month.

In addition to regular tournament play, there some tournaments that last 2-3 days. Our 18’s team travels to Las Vegas for 3 days in February  for the Las Vegas Classic. Our entire club will play in a week long tournament  in June in Phoenix, Arizona that finishes the season. You can see these dates on the 2010-2011 schedule. All travel and hotel stay arrangements for these tournaments is the responsibility of each family. These costs are not included in the club fees.
